Since Earl Carpenter’s my first live Javert, I thought it fitting to commemorate this. I was initially going to do it as a painting, but then decided it should be in harsh black and white, since it’s pretty much what Javert’s world is like. Also, comicbook-like inking is fun. ;)

a change, a revolution, a catastrophe had occurred deep down inside him, and there was a cause for self-examination. javert was suffering horribly. several hours ago javert had ceased to be a simple man. he felt troubled. that mind, so limpid its blindness, had lost its transparency. there was a cloudiness in that crystal. javert was aware in his conscience of a division of duty, and he could not conceal it from himself.
